Pick Unpinned if you download boards most weeks, use Firefox or Edge, or want a [private board](/blog/download-private-pinterest-board) backup that keeps your sections as folders. Pick Pin Kit if you need PDF export, want a download button on every single pin, or would rather go with the Chrome extension that 30,000 people already rate 4.9. We make Unpinned. The numbers below are theirs and ours, checked on 14 September 2026.

Pin Kit's site lists no prices. The 20-pin free plan and the $79 a year figure come from their own best-downloaders article. Re-check before you buy. Pin Kit's store listing was updated on 12 September 2026, version 5.5.8.

## Where Unpinned is the better choice

Browsers first. Pin Kit is Chrome only. Unpinned has a [Firefox listing](https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/unpinned/), an [Edge listing](https://microsoftedge.microsoft.com/addons/detail/hbnlcabcdjcmaohdhccfcahneoamknkc) and the [Chrome one](https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/pinterest-downloader-unpi/nclfapfhhlaanahigidekpnmaefbmokp). If you are not on Chrome, the comparison ends here.

Then volume. 50 pins a day with no board count is 1,500 pins a month for nothing. Pin Kit's free plan is 20 pins and 2 boards a month, which a single 40-pin board exceeds. If you download boards most weeks, one of these is free and the other is $79.

Sections. Both tools know sections exist. Unpinned puts each one in its own folder inside a single ZIP, so a sorted board lands sorted. Pin Kit downloads sections one at a time, which is fine for one section and tedious for twelve.

Original quality and video come with the board. Unpinned takes the largest file Pinterest holds for each pin, not the grid thumbnail, and MP4 video pins come down with everything else. Pin Kit does the same. Neither compresses.

Privacy is a draw on paper. Both run inside your browser and neither uploads your boards to a server. Unpinned keeps your email for a login link and nothing else. Pin Kit's store listing declares it handles location, user activity and website content data. Read both privacy policies if that matters to you.

## Where Pin Kit is the better choice

Single pins. Pin Kit puts a download button on every pin as you hover, images and videos both. Unpinned's route for a lone video pin is still save-to-board-then-download.

PDF export, if you hand boards over as a document. Unpinned only does ZIP.

Social proof. 376 ratings at 4.9, a Featured badge and 30,000 users is a real sample. Our 35 ratings at 4.3 is not yet. If store numbers are how you choose, Pin Kit wins that comparison and we are not going to argue with it.

## Free tier, in pins

This is the comparison that matters for anyone who does not want to pay.

Pin Kit's free plan is 20 pins and 2 boards per month. Call it a trial.

Unpinned's free plan is 50 pins per day with no board count. A 200-pin board is four days of waiting or one Pro month.

If you download one small board a quarter, both are free. If you download boards most weeks, only one of them is.

## Price, per year

Unpinned Pro is $60 a year in the US and 50€ elsewhere. Pin Kit's premium is $79 a year. The gap is $19. Both are unlimited once paid. Pin Kit's extra money buys PDF export and single-pin hover downloads. Unpinned's buys Firefox and Edge, and the daily free tier you may never need to leave.

## FAQ

### Does Pin Kit work in Firefox or Edge?

No. Its site and store listing mention Chrome only, and there is no Pin Kit on addons.mozilla.org or Edge Add-ons as of 14 September 2026.

### Is there a board size limit on either?

Neither publishes a per-board cap. [Unpinned's homepage](/) says 5,000-pin boards work. The free plan pauses at 50 pins a day and Pro has no cap. Pin Kit's free plan counts boards, not pins per board, at 2 a month.

### Which should I install first?

Whichever fits your browser. On Chrome, try both on the same board. The [step-by-step download guide](/blog/download-entire-pinterest-board) takes two minutes on Unpinned.
