Browser extensions have a bad reputation, and it is often deserved. A 2023 Spin.AI report rated over half of the 300,000+ extensions and apps it assessed as high risk. In 2024, a Stanford and CISPA study found that 280 million Chrome users had installed extensions containing malware in three years.

Some so-called "free" extensions actually make money by silently collecting and selling your personal info. Things like login details or browsing habits can end up on shady markets just because you installed the wrong tool. Here's what's wrong with a lot of extensions:

Pinterest sites: Adds the download panel to Pinterest and reads the board you have open. Covers pinterest.com and its country sites, like pinterest.de.
Pinterest's image and video servers: Fetches each pin's original file from i.pinimg.com and v1.pinimg.com.
Pinterest's own requests: The webRequest permission. Unpinned watches the requests Pinterest makes for a board, its sections and their pins, so it can page through the whole board the way Pinterest does. Only on Pinterest.
Downloads: Saves the finished ZIP, CSV or PDF to your downloads folder and notices when it is done.
Tabs: Reloads your open Pinterest tabs when needed and opens the board colour palette in a new tab.
Offscreen document: Packs a large board into a ZIP in the background, so the download keeps going while you browse.
Storage and unlimited storage: Keeps your settings, your login and today's pin count on your computer, without the browser's size cap for large boards.
Our own servers: uninspired.app for your login link, your plan and the panel's fonts. ph.uninspired.work sends usage statistics to PostHog's EU servers, as the privacy policy describes.
