Pinterest board to Figma or Canva: which route

Get a whole Pinterest board into Figma or Canva without a plugin. Download it as a ZIP and drag the files in, or export a PDF when the board is going to print.

Workflow · Moodboards

The simplest way to get a Pinterest board into Figma or Canva is to download the board and drop the files in. No plugin, no connected account. Unpinned downloads the whole board as a ZIP of full-size images and videos, with each section as its own folder. From there it is a drag in Figma and an upload in Canva.

Which route

You want to Route
Lay out a moodboard in Figma ZIP, then drag the files onto the canvas
Edit references in a Canva design ZIP, then upload the files
Print the board, or hand over paper PDF straight from Unpinned

If you will keep editing the result, take the ZIP. When the output is paper, go straight to the PDF and skip the design tool.

Figma: ZIP, then drag

  1. Open the board on Pinterest and click Unpinned in the bottom-right corner of the page.
  2. Keep the format on .zip and download.
  3. Unzip, open one section folder, select its files and drag them onto the Figma canvas.

Drag from the unzipped folder, not from inside the ZIP. Images come in at their pixel size, so a full-size pin arrives large. Select them and scale once.

A board with sections is easiest one folder at a time. The Figma part of the sections to folders guide shows how to wrap each section in its own auto layout frame, so the page reads the way the board did.

Canva: ZIP, then upload

Download the ZIP the same way, open a design, go to Uploads and upload the files. Do it one section folder at a time and each section stays together in the uploads panel, newest first. Canva takes MP4 too, so video pins from the board go in the same way as the images.

The Canva part of the sections guide covers sorting the uploads into folders.

When PDF is the better route

When the board is going onto a wall, a table or a client's desk, you do not need a design tool at all. Unpinned exports the board as a PDF in A4 or Letter, with 1 to 9 pins per page and each section on its own pages. Pinterest board to PDF has the steps. PDF export is part of Pro.

You can open that PDF in Canva and keep editing, but if editing is the plan, the ZIP gives you the original files to work with, which is cleaner.

Why there is no Figma plugin or Canva app

There is none, and we have no plans for one. The ZIP route is two steps, download and drag, and it works the same on every Figma and Canva plan. A plugin would add another account connection and another set of permissions to save you one drag.

FAQ

Do I need a Figma plugin to import a Pinterest board?

No. Download the board as a ZIP with the Pinterest board downloader and drag the images onto the canvas.

Can I bring a Pinterest board into Canva on the free plan?

Yes. Uploading images works on every Canva plan. On Unpinned's free plan you can download 50 pins a day.

Do sections survive the trip?

Yes, as folders in the ZIP. Figma and Canva do not read folders by themselves, so import one folder at a time and the grouping carries over.

Which browsers does Unpinned work in?

Chrome, Firefox and Edge, on desktop.
