Unpinned and PinSuite solve different problems that happen to start with the same click. Unpinned turns a Pinterest board into a ZIP on your disk. PinSuite copies boards into a hosted library on its servers, alongside Instagram posts and any image from the web, and lets you export from there. If you want files, Unpinned is the shorter path. If you want a second Pinterest that you pay for, PinSuite is closer to that. We make Unpinned. Read the table with that in mind.

What PinSuite is now

PinSuite's homepage describes a personal library. You save Pinterest boards, Instagram posts, images from any site and full page archives into one place, tag them, extract colour palettes, and share links. The browser extension is the way private Pinterest boards get in. Exports come out as ZIP, PDF, HTML, CSV or JSON.

That is a real product with a real use. It is also a subscription to storage you do not control. When it lapses, the library goes with it.

Unpinned has no library. The board downloader takes the board from Pinterest to a ZIP in your Downloads folder, named after the board, with sections as subfolders and video pins as MP4. There is nothing on our side to lose access to.

Side by side

We checked prices and store numbers on 12 September 2026. Both change, so re-check before you rely on them.

Unpinned PinSuite
Free tier 50 pins per day, resets daily 25 saves total
Paid $7/month or $60/year in the US; 6€ or 50€ elsewhere $6.99/month or $49/year

Where files go ZIP on your disk Their library, then export
Sections Subfolders in the ZIP Kept in the library
Video pins MP4 in the ZIP, via a board Videos and GIFs saved to the library
Private boards Yes, boards you can already open Yes, via the extension

Chrome Web Store 4.3 stars, 35 ratings, ~7,000 users 4.8 stars, 4 ratings, ~216 users

On the free tiers, 25 saves total versus 50 pins a day is not close. A free week on Unpinned is 350 pins.

On price the two are within a dollar, so pick on what the money buys. PinSuite's fee is for hosting and the extra sources. Unpinned's fee lifts the daily cap on a tool that otherwise costs nothing.

Where PinSuite is the better choice

If you collect from Instagram and random websites as much as from Pinterest, and you want one searchable place with tags and colour palettes, PinSuite does that and Unpinned does not. The CSV and JSON exports also matter if you need a list of sources for a client deck.

Where Unpinned is the better choice

If the job is get this board onto my disk, organised, full size, now, Unpinned is one click with no account on a third-party service. Sections stay folders. Videos stay MP4. The security page lists the single permission the extension asks for. There is no library to migrate out of later.

For how this stacks up against the pure downloader extensions, see Unpinned vs Pin Toolbox, Unpinned vs Pinpasta and Unpinned vs Pin Kit, all five in the best Pinterest board downloader roundup, or the wider comparison page.

One correction

PinSuite's own listicle of downloaders gives Unpinned a 4.9-star Chrome Web Store rating. We wish. The listing showed 4.3 from 35 ratings when we checked, and that is the number in the table above. PinSuite's own listing showed 4.8 from 4 ratings, which is too small a sample to call a rating.

FAQ

Does PinSuite need my Pinterest password?

PinSuite states it does not. Neither does Unpinned. Both read the session your browser already has.

Can I get a plain ZIP from PinSuite?

Yes, as an export from the library. With Unpinned the ZIP is the download, with no intermediate step. The step-by-step guide shows what that looks like.
