Unpinned vs Pinpasta

Unpinned and Pinpasta compared on browsers, free tier, price, ZIP export, sections and video. The Figma paste is real. The Chrome-only claim is not.

Pinpasta and Unpinned both turn a Pinterest board into files, and both run in Chrome and Firefox. Pinpasta's distinct feature is pasting pins straight into Figma. Unpinned's are video pins, sections as folders in the ZIP, and a free plan measured per day rather than per board. Pinpasta publishes a comparison of the two that gets a few things wrong about us, so this is our side of it, with the numbers checked on 12 September 2026. We are obviously not neutral.

First, the Chrome-only claim

Pinpasta's comparison page says "Unpinned is currently Chrome-only, while Pinpasta is available for both Chrome and Firefox." That is not true, and has not been for a while. Unpinned has a Firefox listing on addons.mozilla.org, and Edge installs the Chrome Web Store build. Same three browsers as our homepage says.

Two smaller ones from the same page. It describes the free plan as "50 pins per batch". It is 50 pins per day, resetting every 24 hours. And it says Pro pricing is "not prominently advertised". The price is on our homepage and on the comparison page: $7 a month or $60 a year in the US, 6€ or 50€ elsewhere.

Side by side

Unpinned Pinpasta
Free tier 50 pins per day, any board First 20 pins of a board per ZIP; 30 pins per Figma paste
Paid $7/month or $60/year US; 6€ or 50€ elsewhere $29.99 one-time, lifetime, 2 devices
Browsers Chrome, Firefox, Edge Chrome, Firefox
ZIP of original files Yes Yes, plus a report file listing pin URLs
Sections as folders Yes Their comparison says no; their store listing says it "works with" sectioned boards
Video pins Yes, MP4 via a board No, images only
Figma paste No Yes, with their Figma plugin
Account Email login link None
Chrome Web Store 4.3 stars, 35 ratings, ~7,000 users 3.1 stars, 14 ratings, ~9,000 users

Pinpasta's pricing is a one-off $29.99 and that is a fair argument in their favour. Five months of Unpinned Pro costs the same. If you download boards every month for years and never need video, the lifetime licence wins on money.

The free tiers point the other way. Pinpasta's free ZIP stops at the first 20 pins of a board, forever. Unpinned's free plan gives 50 pins a day on any board, so a 150-pin board is three free days rather than a purchase.

Where Pinpasta is the better choice

If your moodboard lives in Figma and you want pins on the canvas without touching the file system, Pinpasta's paste is the shortest route, and Unpinned does not have one. Their pin URL report is also handy for tracing images back.

Where Unpinned is the better choice

Video pins, first. Pinpasta's own page says it does not download video. Then sections, which come down as subfolders so a sorted board stays sorted on disk. The sections to folders workflow gets those folders into Figma in a couple of steps. And the daily free allowance covers most personal use without paying at all.

FAQ

Does Pinpasta need an account?

No. Unpinned asks for an email to send a login link and stores nothing else. The security page has the permission list.

Which one handles a 2,000-pin board?

Both claim large boards. On Unpinned that is a Pro download or forty free days. On Pinpasta it needs the lifetime licence, since the free ZIP stops at 20 pins.
